Simplify the Strategy

You seriously have no idea how Type A I am until you read this post.

I get asked a lot how I stay consistent with posting, come up with new ideas, and avoid discouragement.

PART of the question is that I am writing this post on September 29, 2026 and it will be posted on October 27. (That's how far ahead I plan.)

But a bigger part of my HOW is that I am always analyzing my heart and my life when it comes to my platform, being honest with myself and shifting strategies (not for marketing, but for managing my time).

Time for you to see how much I love a list...

The first thing I did during my month off in August to refresh my mindset was...

Identify my PRESENCE

PRESENCE includes yourself and your situation, everything from your age, family, finances, personality, responsibilities. Taking note of these factors was really helpful to understand my typical week, energy availability, and set expectations for myself.

I was able to identify 5 tasks that I want to accomplish every week when it comes to my work (this is something my hubby does at his job!). For me, those tasks are...

  1. Tell a Story (Write or Edit)

  2. Connect with Readers

  3. Manage Business

  4. Creative Inhale

  5. Support Fellow Authors

From there, I went back to the drawing board to

hone in on my PURPOSE

for being on social media. I reflected on:

  1. What is my goal for posting?

  2. Who is my target follower?

  3. What kinds of posts do I enjoy?

  4. What kinds of posts serve others?

Finally, I nailed down content pillars

built on my PASSIONS.

The caveat was that each category must relate to all areas of my PURPOSE. After analyzing my posts, analytics, and some soul searching, here are the 4 pillars I landed on sharing:

  1. Book Recs

  2. Internet Essays

  3. Authorship BTS

  4. Romanticizing Life

Those pillars then become the foundation to

form my PLAN.

For me, there is so much power in having a plan, even if I don’t stick to it. It gives me a jumping off point, a way to organize my thoughts and time, and make the most of my day.

Sometimes, you have to pause in order to plan. I certainly benefit from getting a bit of space, which is why I have my Annual Audit!

Here is a glimpse at my current weekly work schedule:

  • Sun: Spiritual Reflection & Creative Inhale 10a-1p

  • Mon-Wed: Writing 9a-12p, LUNCH BREAK, Writing 1p-3p, Social Media 3p-4p

  • Thu: Content Brainstorming & Creation 9a-12p, LUNCH BREAK, Business Management 1p-4p (No Posting)

  • Fri: Unplugged Day Off

  • Sat: Day Off, Post & Ghost

I reworked my schedule to focus solely on writing 3 days a week, planning my daily-ish posts for a time that removes distractions as I am phasing out of work mode.

Then I use my morning creative energy burst only 1 day a week to focus on marketing and management. I always batch content, so I will brainstorm a dozen or so ideas, then execute as many of them as I can. That allows me to be in the creative flow and fully focused, knowing I've already accomplished my most important task of the week--writing!

I also needed a day when I could work WITHOUT posting, just to give myself some space, and this helps me to not worry about missing notifications when I'm unplugged on Friday, spending time with my hubs.

Now, every day when I wake up, I know what is my top priority for the day, and also know when I will get the other stuff done.

So that's how my brain works. I hope it's helpful, or at least interesting to see behind the curtain a bit!
